Day of Action

United Way announces Day of Action on June 7th

Traditionally, United Ways across the nation host a Day of Action on or around June 21st, the longest day of the year.

To best fit the needs of Freeborn County, United Way of Freeborn County will be hosting their Day of Action on June 7th, 2021 as part of the Ready to Live United Campaign in partnership with the Senior Center/Albert Lea Family YMCA.

Day of Action is designed to engage individuals and corporate partners in meaningful projects. In previous years, United Way of Freeborn County has hosted initiatives such as Rock the Block and looks forward to bringing back the collective impact that events such as these can have.

By focusing on the Senior Center, this year's event will be contributing to the brand new partnership between the Albert Lea Family YMCA and the City of Albert Lea. Closed since the beginning of the pandemic, the Senior Center is slated to reopen in mid to late June.

April Jeppson, Community & Marketing Director for the Albert Lea Family YMCA will be overseeing the Senior Center. Jeppson is working to provide a fresh, welcoming space for seniors to gather. Projects include cleaning the Senior Center areas, updating bulletin boards and resources and some light painting of spaces.

The day will launch at 9:00 AM at the Senior Center with a light breakfast of muffins, coffee and juice.
Please register to volunteer by calling 507-373-8670.

Additional Day of Action volunteer projects will be added as available.
For corporations interested in sponsoring the project, please contact United Way of Freeborn County at 507-373-8670.
