Volunteer Center

The United Way of Freeborn County Volunteer Center

Starting in November 2020, an Americorps VISTA will be starting a 3 year capacity builing project sponsored by the Minnesota Associaton for Volunteer Administration.

This project is the result of a year of seeing the need in our community for a central place for the volunteer efforts. Individuals, corporations and service groups all are looking for a central place to choose the volunteer opportunity for them.
With COVID-19, volunteers are needed more than ever, and agencies need the support to help recruit, organize and manage volunteers.

Whether it’s reading with children, stocking shelves at a food pantry or delivering meals to home-bound seniors, volunteers are needed throughout our community everyday. Our Volunteer Center can match your interests and talents with the needs of area non-profits—including agencies not funded by United Way.

All volunteer activities will follow COVID-19 guidelines. Virtual or at home activities are being developed this fall.

Upcoming opportunities:

United Way Winter Gear Drive:

Volunteers will be needed to help on distribution days (evenings and weekend hours), to assist with picking up coats, sorting and taking them to the landromat for washing. There are options for isolated activities.

Are you handy with a paintbrush?
Do you have a partner or two that would form a small group to paint a conference room and/or a reception area? Social distancing can be easily maintained, and hours can be arranged to suit your schedule. Help us refresh our gathering spaces so when we can meet again, we have a bright, welcoming space for our community of non-profits.
