In Emergencies, you will need to go through the proper channels first:
If about to be evicted from one’s home, heat shut off, etc.
1. Contact Department of Human Services—go in person and say it’s an emergency—that you are homeless and in need of a place to stay. (If you don’t say it’s an emergency, they will give you an appointment 2 weeks down the road)
2. Fill out an application
3. If denied, ask for the proof in writing (no other agency will help unless you have proof you’ve been denied by DHS)
