United Way released its 10th book, Apples: 1,2,3 in April.
The book was written by William King, resident of Albert Lea, and illustrated by Rachel Ringham, who lives in Lake Mills, IA. Bill is retired but still barbering in Owatonna, MN with Gary Johnson. Bill is a member of the Washington Ave. Writer’s Group of Albert Lea, the Brick House Coffee House writer’s group of Austin and the Minnesota Writer’s Alliance of Rochester.
Apples: 1,2,3 is about apple production from “seed to store.” It opens with the tale of Johnny Appleseed and a rabbit named Bernard invites readers to visit the Johnson’s apple orchard. Readers learn about care of apple trees, how apples grow and different ways to eat apples.
The book was published at Arrow Printing with the help of donations from local organizations: Albert Lea Medical Center, Alliant Energy, Freeborn Mower Cooperative and Wells Fargo.
